Ryle Amberg Obituary

Ryle Todd Amberg age 24, was born August 17, 1989 in Anchorage, AK. He graduated from South Anchorage High School in 2008 and attended University of Idaho before graduating from Montana State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 2013. Ryle is survived by his parents, Tyrell Amberg (Leslie Despotakis) and Tammy Oswald (Kevin Greenfield), his sister Alicia Amberg, his grandparents, Teita Amberg, and Pat and Ray Oswald, many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins throughout Alaska and the mid-west, and by the love of his life, Chaela Liss and their dog, Drifter. Ryle is also survived by the many friends he considered family; many of whom he grew up with or met during his time in college, and most recently his job with Coffman Engineers. Some of Ryle's most enduring friendships included Danielle and Ben Birch, Kevin Kramer, Trent Oswald, Theo McJunkin, Lance Borton, Seth Amberg, Zak Bryant, Kyle Therrien, Kyle Wilson, Luke Cronick, Tim Crandall, Michael McCambridge, Tanner Ortland, Alex Lamb, Conrad Wharton, Neil Shibe, Tyler Doil, Andrew Hembree, John Neary, Robby Russell, and countless others. Ryle loved the outdoors and adventure! Some of his passions included snow machining, snow boarding, wake boarding, dirt biking, and blasting off anything that went BANG! He could be found doing any of these things at the family cabins on Horseshoe Lake or in Petersville. Although he had many hobbies, Ryle was best known for the ingenuity he applied to all of them. You could often find him tinkering in the shop, building something until the wee hours of the morning. Taking things apart and putting them back together, often structurally or mechanically modified, was one of his more famous skills. Ryle was born with the natural ability to think outside of the box. If you completed a task one way, he could show you three different ways to arrive at the same completion in half the time-a true and patient teacher. He was an engineer, inventor, adventurer, innovator, improviser, pioneer, and an all around "MacGyver". In between missing flights and losing every set of keys he owned (including everyone else's), Ryle was all about people. Although he never trusted a man in clean carhartts, he had a propensity for making people happy and would go out of his way to make sure everyone was taken care of. He loved life! His huge heart, optimism, infectious smile, laid back attitude and wry humor could cheer you up in any situation. Ryle was careful not to take life too seriously, and had a very relaxed sense of "on-time". When you were three hours late on the way to Turnagain Pass, or Big Sky or the airport for an important flight, at some point you came to accept that Ryle worked in his own time zone, affectionately known as "Ryle time." He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him-for all of time. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, at 2:00 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church (1420 Cordova St, Anchorage) followed by a reception at 4:00 p.m. at O'Malley on the Green. If you have a favorite picture or memory of Ryle, please feel free to bring it to share. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up in Ryle's name at Key Bank, account number 7272-9100-0337. The family will choose a charity at a later date to honor his memory. You can also make a donation in Ryle's name to your favorite shelter or charity, in reflection of Ryle's huge heart. Arrangements are with Janssen Funeral Homes.
