Patricia McNamee Obituary

Patricia McNamee
Windsor - Patricia I. McNamee (Pat) age 76, passed away on January 24, 2023, following complications due to Covid. She was born in New Jersey on July 31, 1946, to Edward G. Ingram and Marthe Seger. They soon after moved to Greenwich Ct. She was a mom, grandmother, volunteer, avid gardener, mentor, animal rescuer and a friend to many. She was a two- time cancer survivor.
Pat was a lifelong volunteer, whether it be with the Girl Scouts of America when her girls were young or more recently with her therapy dog, Pete, with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, where they brought joy to the many facilities they visited.
Her other passion was animal rescue. Countless dogs, horses, various small animals or people found their way to a safer place through her tireless efforts. She worked with many organizations, including Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS).
Raised in Greenwich CT, she attended Greenwich High School, where she founded a riding club, which was innovative for the day and enjoyed by many students. Later in life, she transplanted from Connecticut to Windsor, South Carolina so that she could take part in the active pony cart driving community. From there, she became woven into the fabric of her friend's lives. A life-long horsewoman, she loved driving her ponies for pleasure and competition, and mentoring others.
As a Master Gardener, her gardens were legendary. She spent countless hours lovingly tending to her plants and was on a constant quest for more to join the abundance, dragging along anyone who appreciated the thrill of the hunt as much as she did.
Her daughters, Cindy and Heather, would like to thank a very special group of our mother's treasured friends that carried us through these darkest days and brought rays of light to not only our mom, but to us as well. They tirelessly cared for her and her precious animals when we could not be present. We will be forever grateful for each of you.
Pat leaves behind her daughters, Cynthia Hannan and her husband Raymond Hannan Jr, of Mountainside NJ, and Heather McNamee and her partner John Rudy of Bolton, CT; her grandchildren, Thomas and Claire Hannan, Kaleigh, Addison, Piper Lily and Sawyer Davis with their father Christopher Davis; her five dogs and her pony Guy; and various ex-husbands. She also leaves behind a multitude of amazing friends, from childhood to the present, too many to list. She is predeceased by her beloved pony, Val, and many, many other cherished pets.
She left a legacy of service and caring for the Earth, animals and each other that will forever stay in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to FOTAS. WWW.FOTASAIKEN.ORG, P.O. Box 2207, Aiken SC 29802 or Protectors of Animals. WWW.POAINC.ORG, 144 Main St, Unit O, East Hartford, CT. 06118.

Met her once, but she made such an impression. Generously welcomed me into her home and her garden where she shared s particular plant I was seeking. We both loved rescuing animals and immediately struck up a conversation. She invited me back , but very regretfully, I never returned. What a huge friendship I missed out on.

A lovely, open hearted kind woman. Your presence will be sorely missed, Pat
