Marion Smith
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Mr. Marion Smith, 80, beloved husband of thirty-eight years to Mrs. Barbara Smith, entered into rest on Sunday, December 21st, 2014.
Born in Gibson, GA, a son of the late Jewel Ray and Ora Bell Usry Smith, he had been a resident of Aiken County, SC, most of his life. A Korean War Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator, having formerly owned Industrial Contractors and retired from CPI. He was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church. Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing. However, more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, family members include his children, Warren Smith, North Augusta, SC, Marty Smith, Warrenville, SC, Latina Shaufelberger, McCormick, SC, Jeff McCormick, Vidalia, GA, Andy Smith, McCormick, SC and Kent McCormick, Clearwater, SC; siblings, Jeanette Mitchell, Augusta, GA, Katherine Trudell, Belvedere, SC, Vernon Smith, Clearwater, SC and the late Ray Smith and many grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 26th, 2014, at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastor Mike Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC, with Veterans Honors accorded by a United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Craig Smith, Jeremy Smith, Brian Smith, Jeffery McCormick, Josh McCormick, Jake McCormick, Jason Brown and Jerry Shaufelberger.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. (www.stjude.org)
The family will greet friends on Friday from 1 until 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC.
