Laura McCary Obituary

Laura McCary
Graniteville - Laura Wise McCary, age 92, passed peacefully into heaven on Monday, March 15th, with her daughters, her "two angels," at her bedside.
A lifelong resident of Graniteville, Laura graduated from Leavelle McCampbell High School in 1946 and retired from the Gregg Division of Graniteville Company in 1992 after forty-five years of service. She was a faithful member of Graniteville First Baptist, who loved her church family dearly. A devoted wife, a loving mother, and a most special Memommy, she was truly the happiest when her family was gathered around her table.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, B.C.; her parents, John and Mabel Barker Wise; a sister, Doris Wise Wingard; and a special friend, Houston Holley. Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Edward) Fulmer and Janet (Lucky) Joy; her brother, John K. (Buddy) Wise; her grandchildren, Lorinda (Todd) Woodsmall, Ben (Tabatha) Fulmer, and Stanton (Jennifer) Chapman; and her great-grandchildren, Devin (Katelyn) and Micah Woodsmall, Megan and Kevin Fulmer, and Wittney Martin.
A service honoring her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 23rd at Graniteville First Baptist Church with Pastor Todd Sessions officiating; burial will follow at Graniteville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour before the service. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her caregivers: Janet Hubbs, Lucy Ready, Carol Brantley, Ginger Hutto, and Iris Taylor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Graniteville First Baptist Church, 76 Canal St. Graniteville, SC, or Connie Maxwell Children's Ministries, Greenwood, SC. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
