Jason Hurst Obituary

Jason Andreaus Hurst, 29, passed away early morning on June 17, 2014, at Providence Alaska Medical Center, in Anchorage, AK. He was born February 3, 1985, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Elizabeth and Jasper Hurst.

Jason joined the US Army in 2004 and proudly served until April 2012, when he was honorably discharged from his service. He continued on to serve in the Army National Guard. During his active duty service, Jason completed tours in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006-2007, and in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom from 2009-2010. He was a Purple Heart recipient, along with many other additional medals and honors.

He is survived by his wife, Amber Hurst; parents, Elizabeth Radabaugh and Gregory Radabaugh; brothers Cedric, Michael, and Charles Hurst; niece Kayla Hurst; and nephew Cedric (CJ) Hurst Jr.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jasper Hurst Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Jason on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in Anchorage, AK. It will be located at The Peanut Farm ("old" side), 5227 Old Seward Highway, from 3-5 p.m.

A formal military ceremony will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in San Antonio, TX. It will be located at Porter Loring Chapel at 10 a.m. Military honors will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jason's honor to an appropriate cause. Possible organizations may include The PTSD Foundation of America or The Wounded Warrior Project.

Jason, You'll always be remembered member of Foxtrot Co. C-23 unit "Alaska's Chilin Villains" by your camaraderie, good friendship and great service to the AK Guard and Active army.
