Gloria Gunter Obituary

Gloria Gunter
AIKEN, SC - Gloria Napier Gunter, age 82, of Aiken, S. C., wife of the late Virgil N. Gunter and daughter of the late William E. Napier and the late Bernice Barfield Gunter, went home to be with Jesus at Aiken Regional Medical Center, with her family by her side, on Sunday, March 5, 2017. She is survived by a son, Gary Gunter; a daughter, Dianne (Bill) Granade; a brother, Wm. Sammie (Glenda) Napier all of Aiken, S.C.; grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Granade, Seth Granade, Emily (William) Dietrich, Stephen (fiancee, Kelsey McIntyyre) Gunter; Sean (Miranda) Gunter; two great grandchildren, Jax Dietrich and Liam Granade and four special pet dogs. She was born in and was a lifetime resident of Aiken County, S.C. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C., and she also attended Living Hope Fellowship in Aiken. She retired from A & P Grocery Store and after that, she worked for Aiken Electric Coop. from where she also retired. Gloria, "nicknamed GiGi," was a precious lady, who was always nice but could also be very "feisty" if she had to be. Yes, Ma 'am or Sir, she could set you straight in a minute if you messed with her family or friends. Her family stated she loved to cook and was quite good at it, as she usually prepared enough for an Army. She, was indeed, a special mother, sister, grandmother and friend, who shall be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched during the 82 years that God granted her on this earth; however, death cannot destroy precious memories, and she shall live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones. Earth's loss is truly Heaven's gain. A service paying tribute to her life and celebrating her homegoing, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 4:00 PM with Pastor Dexter Lambert officiating. The interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Park. The Pallbearers will be Sean and Stephen Gunter, Scotty Napier, Ricky Gunter, Seth Granade and William Dietrich. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street. Graniteville SC, 29829 is in charge of all arrangements.

I just saw this late Wednesday night. Sammie I am so sorry about your loss. I first met Gloria when I was very young. Gloria worked with my mother, Ella Mae Goodwin, at McCroy Dime Store. Later after I got married she was working at the A&P where we bought our groceries for many years. Then later on she worked at the REA where I paid our light bills. I also went to church at Memorial for several years. Gloria was a very sweet person. My deepest sympathy goes out to you Sammie & all the family. God bless you always.

Dear Folks, I have just now read the obituary. Your Mom was one more special lady. I remember when I lived next door to she and Mr. Gunter on Westmont. They were always so helpful to me and willing to help me in anyway possible. I really did love her and I know she will be missed by all........

Having hospitalized for the entire week,I just learned of this sweet lady's passing. As a young man,my late husband worked with her at the grocery store. I had the pleasure of getting to know her through her job at Aiken Electric. She was a true southern soul willing to share her smile and friendship. I am sorry for your loss. She touched many people's lives .
