Gene Stewart Obituary
AIKEN - Gene Ross Stewart, Lt. Commander (Ret.), 84, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Dr. Robert Laube officiating. Interment will full military honors will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Stewart was born in Mason, OH, a son of the late Charles Stewart and Ida Farrer Stewart Cox. He had been a resident of Aiken since 1992, and was a member of Calvary Chapel of Aiken. He served in the US Navy from 1948 - 1970.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Shane D. (Lynn Anne) Stewart, Aiken, Dr. Brent D. (Marcia) Stewart, Aiken; grandchildren, Joel Stewart, Ian Stewart, Benjamin Stewart, Mark Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Kristen Stewart, Laura S. Moore, Julia Stewart; great grandchildren, Chloe, Jenna and Jones Stewart; sister, Esther (Robert) Bates, Clearwater, FL; brother, Lisle (Diane) Stewart, Henderson, NV.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Jean Stewart, a son, Brian Scott Stewart, grandson, Noah Jonathan Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Calvary Chapel of Aiken, 390 Croft Mill Rd., Aiken, SC 29801.
