Elaine Loew Obituary

Elaine J Loew, 63, passed away unexpectedly in Palmer, AK on May 3, 2014.

A service will be held at Anchorage City Church, 1301 W 100th Ave, Anchorage, AK on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 12 p.m. Richard Irwin will be officiant. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hilltop Ski Chalet immediately following. Elaine will be laid to rest at a private burial at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery.

Elaine was born on June 8, 1950 in Renville, MN to Herbert and Grace Abbas. In 1990 she began a long career with the Municipality of Anchorage. Elaine was an ambassador with the Harley Owner Group (HOG) and enjoyed motorcycle riding, skiing, sun bathing and bargain shopping.

Her family wrote: "She was a devoted wife, strong mother, gentle grandmother who was selfless, charismatic, determined, powerful, kind, loving and always giving to others before herself. She touched everyone's lives in a positive upbeat way. There will be a Nordstrom Rack in heaven very soon."

Elaine is survived by her husband, William Paul Loew; daughters, Kymberly LaRose and Kelly McCartney; grandson, Dawson McCartney; mother, Grace Abbas; brothers, Curt and Doug Abbas; sister, Phyllis Abbas; and many nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her father, Herbert Abbas; and sister-in-law, Brenda Abbas.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations be sent to AWAIC (Abused Women's Aid in Crisis), 100 W 13th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501

Elaine was a wonderful person and so full of life! She trained so many of us at the Municipality, including me. I just cannot imagine this loss to Paul and her family. Experience teaches us many things, but no amount of experience can prepare you for a loss like this. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My heart breaks for Elaine's family. Kym and I have known one another for many years and she always had wonderful stories to share about her mom ~ shopping trips to Nordstrom, a Knock-Out (or two) at Sullivan's, fabulous bike rides around Alaska and family time at the cabin. Keep those wonderful memories close to your heart, they will always put a smile on your face! Prayers to Paul, Kym, Kelly, Dawson and Elaine's extended family and friends.

Elaine, you are missed so much, and by so many. I couldn't help but giggle when Paul and Dawson lined up all of those fabulous shoes you kept under your desk for all those years.....40 pairs that can never be filled. My heart is with you - Paul, Kym, Kelly and Dawson, as you walk through this tragedy. Your wife/mom/grandma - and my beloved co-worker, was and always will be, irreplaceable. *Hugs*
