Edith Ann Farkas Dusick
RIVERSIDE, CA - Edith Ann Farkas Dusick - mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Sunday November 29, 2015 in Riverside, CA. She was born on March 12, 1922 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Louis and Aranka Farkas. She was raised with one step-sister Margaret, and 4 sisters Adele, Jean, Nancy, and Agnes who preceded her in death.
She attended St. Anne's School, graduated from Bassick High School in 1940 and completed her RN degree in 1944 from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing.
On September 24, 1944 she married the love of her life Stephen John Dusick (1916-1994) in Norfolk, VA where he was stationed in the Navy during WWII. He was originally from Hazelton, PA and they met in Bridgeport, CT where he had gone looking for work. She is survived by her four daughters: Virginia Rafferty and Stephanie Grossman of Aiken, South Carolina, Gloria Freel of Menifee, CA and Diane Dusick of Riverside, CA as well as their spouses Jed Grossman, Robert Freel and Mary Strine and 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She worked for Sikorsky Aircraft and United Technologies for 26 years and in retirement she opened her own successful business (OHRCS) Occupational Health Registry and Consulting Services which provided nursing staff for businesses throughout Southern Connecticut.
She lived in Fairfield, CT for over 65 years attending St. Emery's Church and Our Lady of the Assumption Church. After retiring from OHRCS she lived in Aiken, South Carolina for eight years and attended St. Mary's Help of Christians Church.
She was a devout Catholic, enjoyed reading, politics, gambling and gardening. Funeral services will be held privately.
