Charles Blackburn Obituary

Charles R. Blackburn
AIKEN, SC - Charles R. Blackburn, 77, widower of Grace Walton Blackburn, entered into rest January 8, 2015. Born November 26, 1937 in Bath, SC, he was the son of the late Hubert and Elizabeth Bratcher Blackburn.
He played sports in both high school and college and went on to serve 21 years as a football official in the SC Football Officials Association. He worked as a Real Estate Professional and, was co-owner of Findley-Blackburn Realtors. He served as President of the SC Board of Realtors. He was a life time member of the Horse Creek Masonic Lodge #174AFM and was also a Shriner. He was a sports fanatic and loved Spring Training. He was able to achieve his lifetime goal of becoming a licensed pilot.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Pamela Swearingen (Lewis Cole Swearingen) of Aiken; Karen Blackburn of St. Petersburg, FL; and Lynn Blackburn of Charleston, SC; his grandchildren, Lewis Cole Swearingen, Jr; Ashley S. Hall (Nathan); and Amy S. Holmes (Stephen); his eleven great-grandchildren; and his two brothers, Melvin and Paul Blackburn.
The family will receive friends, Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 3-4PM at Hatcher Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4PM in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, SC.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Blackburn's honor to The SPCA, Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Rd, Aiken, SC 29801 or to the charity of ones choice.

Dated this good guy in school at LBC. He was a nice guy then and from what I understand grew to be a good Christian gentleman. I'm sure he will be missed but he will be with his Savior.
