Cecil Raborn Obituary
BEECH ISLAND, SC - Mr. Cecil Lamar Raborn, 94, beloved husband of sixty-nine years to Mrs. Katie Ruth Moon Raborn, entered into rest on Thursday, July 16, 2015.
Born in Greenwood County, SC and a resident of Aiken County, SC, since 1960, he was a son of the late Ernest L. and Milbra Ouzts Raborn. A World War II Veteran, he proudly served county in the United States Navy, earning the American Area Camp Medal, European-African-Mid East Area Camp Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from the Augusta Chronicle in 1987 after twenty-eight years of service where he was a Press Operator. Mr. Raborn had been a member of Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1961. He was a "workaholic" and enjoyed going to senior citizens gatherings and playing bingo. When asked how they stayed married for sixty-nine years, Mrs. Raborn replied, "We had a good marriage. God was put first."
In addition to his wife, family members include a son, Steve Raborn and his wife, the late Sandra, Gloverville, SC; daughters, Drenda Butler and her husband, Ronnie, Greenwood, SC and Judy Worrell and her husband, George, Sevierville, TN; grandchildren, Renee Holladay and her husband, Ray, Kathy Butler, Steven Paul Worrell and his wife Carrie, Tommy Worrell and Chris Smith, great-grandchildren, Hope Hanna, Lindsey Farver, Josh Worrell and Zach Worrell and a great-great-granddaughter, Carolina Grace Hanna.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 2 o'clock at Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church, Langley, SC, with Pastors Gene Brown and Roland Smith officiating. Interment with Veterans Honors accorded by a United States Navy Honor Guard, will follow in Langley Cemetery, Langley, SC. Pallbearers will be Clemson Ennis, Alvin Padgett, Jack Williams, John Hensler,
Brandon Farver, Gene Garland, Danny Miller and Ray Williamson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ray Holladay, Zach, Josh, Tommy and Steven Paul Worrell.
If so desired memorials may be made to the Missions Fund at Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from noon until 2 o'clock at LANGLEY PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH

Steve,Drenda,Judy and Mrs. Raborn may god continue to provide strength, peace, and comfort. Mr Raborn was a very nice person to work for. He will be missed, but we all know he is in a place where there is no pain,suffering,and sickness. He put up a good fight and he ran his race. God prepared a place and spot for him in heaven now,so he is an angel watching and looking over his wonderful wife, children,grand children, great grand children and friends.

Steve, Drenda, and Judy: I am so sorry to hear about your Daddy's passing away. Mr. Raborn was always a sweet, kind man. I can still hear him whistling hymns in the back yard. I always thought it was so sweet that he helped Mrs. Raborn hang out the laundry! On hot summer days, Mr. Raborn would make popsicles in ice trays for us kids. He was really a nice man. I'm glad we had the Raborns as our next-door neighbors.

Mr. Raborn was always a sweet man and a wonderful next door neighbor. We moved to Beech Island in 1962, got to be good friends with Steve and have many fond memories of the Raborn family. Mr. Raborn will surely be missed.

My heart goes out to the family for another lost in the family within the past 2 weeks. Mr Raborn was a very happy and kind man. I looked forward to see him every month when I came to help with the house. I will miss him dearly but will always remember how happy he was and how much he loved the lord.
