PESOTUM - Loretta Taylor, 97, of Pesotum passed away at 6:10 p.m. Monday (Aug. 5, 2024) at Illini Heritage Nursing Home, Champaign.
Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pesotum, with the Rev. Keith Walder officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pesotum. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, is assisting with arrangements.
Mrs. Taylor was born April 21, 1927, in Tolono, a daughter to Ludwig "Louie" and Mary Hausman Kaufman. She married George Miller on Feb. 6, 1946, in Pesotum, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1984. She then married Bruce Taylor on Jan. 24, 1987, and he preceded in death on Jan. 29, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, Steve and Gerald Miller of Pesotum; two daughters, Georgia (Earl) Hixon of Champaign and Mary Ann Humphrey of Tolono; two stepchildren, Beth Bailey and Pam Rush; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, two stepsons, two brothers, three sisters, daughter-in-law and a stepgranddaughter.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tolono and the C-U Elks in Savoy. She was employed at the Glove Factory in Champaign in the 1940s. She was also employed at the taverns in Pesotum and restaurant in Tolono and the Tolono IGA. She enjoyed eating out for lunch.
