William "Bill" John Tyler, age 79, of Remus, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at McLaren Hospital in Lansing, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 13, 1946, to Lyman and Viola (Brown) Tyler, Bill attended school in Mecosta. On July 27, 1968, he married the love of his life, Lola Howard. Together, they built a beautiful life in Remus and were blessed with two daughters, Amy and Diana. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bill's life revolved around his family. He coached his daughters in softball for many years and was instrumental in organizing with a friend the Little League program in Remus in 1969. His greatest joy was watching his children and later his grandchildren play sports, always proudly serving as their number one fan. Bill worked as an electrician for 40 years, retiring from Al's Electric in Remus in 2008. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and riding motorcycles with friends and family. He also gave back to his community, serving as a volunteer firefighter for Wheatland Township for over 10 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Viola (Brown) Tyler; and siblings Betty Geitzen, Ronald Tyler, Barbara King, and Connie Grimes. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Lola Tyler; sister Joyce (Harold) Boerma; daughters Amy (Nick) Snyder of Remus and Diana McCaffrey of Canton; six grandchildren, Brooklyn (Matt) Young of Blanchard, Adriana (Terrence) Bally of Grosse Pointe Woods, Nicole (Jason) Sullivan of Elburn, Illinois, Nathan (Danielle) Snyder of Kalamazoo, Gage (Megan) McCaffrey of Kalamazoo, and Aaliyah (Jayden) McCaffrey of Westland; and six great-grandsons, Banks, Easton, Brady, Knox, Nash, and Tate. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus. Family and friends are invited to gather again on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. for a Celebration of Life, also at Janowicz Family Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Derek Snyder to officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family.
