Vivian Mae Davis "Vera" was born to the late Clarence and Jennie V. Smith on January 22, 1952. To friends she was known as Vera, but to family she was known as Mae, to her children she was My Mama, and to her late husband, she was sweetheart and to her grandchildren, she was Granny and her great grands called her GG!
A Time to Depart This Earthly World:
She transitioned April 21, 2025 at Pine View Nursing Home facility of Waynesboro, MS.
A Time to Weep:
She leaves to cherish and carry on her memories her daughters: Armanda Shanks (Gary), Regina Owens (Jerry) of Waynesboro, MS, Ms. Patty Eisenlohr (Rob) of Vandalia, OH. Nine grandchildren: Sheelia Davis, LJ Thames of Waynesboro, MS, Jerrika Owens of Hattiesburg, MS, Jeronta Davis, Joshua Davis, Gradaisha Davis of Shubuta, MS, Kishona Davis, Kishon Davis, Starachel Davis of Buckatunna, MS, Four great grandchildren: Lennden Thames, Lendrick Thames, Lenniria Thames, Skyri Thames of Waynesboro, MS. Three sisters: Shirley Dixon, Sarah Davis and Bertha West (Milton) of Waynesboro, MS. Five brothers: Bennie James, Jimmy Lee, Gary Lee and Murry Lee Smith of Waynesboro, MS, Bennie Fred Smith of Hattiesburg, MS. Five sister in laws: Betty McDougle, Dora Aaron, and Mattie Williams of Waynesboro, MS, Rosie Cook of Trotwood, OH and Lucy Das and a host of nieces, nephews, and several friends she was close to. A special thanks to Ms. Irma Johnson. Proceeding her in death, her husband, Jimmie Davis, Sr, son: Jimmie Davis, Jr., her parents: Clarence and Jennie-V- Smith and a brother Clarence Robert Smith.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 2:00 PM at New Jordan Baptist Church in Millry, AL, with Rev. Alfred James as the officiant. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
The visitation was held Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
