Sandra null Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones - Gallagher Funeral Home - Starke on Mar. 3, 2026.
Mrs. Sandra "Lu" Green Sanders, age 86 of Starke, Florida passed away at her home on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born on January 14, 1940, in Gainesville to Robert Alexis and Bessie Lucile (Harris) Green. Her life was a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and purpose, making her home in Starke for many years.

Mrs. Sanders was a dedicated educator, touching countless lives over her years in the public school system as both a teacher and a beloved Pre-K instructor from her own home. Known for her indomitable spirit and tenacity, she also made history as the first woman to be named Top Agent for Gulf Life, excelling in her role as an insurance agent. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Sanders had a deep passion for her faith, serving as a Messianic Evangelist and never passed up an opportunity to led someone to Christ.

A talented decorator, collector, and most importantly, avid shopper, her creativity shone through in every aspect of her life. Though she once dreamed of becoming a dress designer, she chose the path of love and family, ultimately finding joy in the relationships she created and nurtured throughout her lifetime. As a life-long member of the Starke Woman's Club, she earned the distinction of being the youngest president of the club, reflecting her commitment to community service and leadership.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her son, Attorney Curtis A. "Lex" Sanders, her brother William "Bill" Green (Diane), dear nephews Lex Green III (Bonnie) and Dr. Harris Green (Lisa), nieces Kathy Green (Kelly), Melanie G. Hancock (John) and Amber G. McHugh (Brian), cousins and many wonderful friends. She was a loving "Aunt Lu" to a bundle that will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curtis G. Sanders, with whom she shared nearly 56 beautiful years of marriage, along with two brothers, Judge R.A. "Buzzy" Green, Jr. (Saundra) and Michael Green.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM, in the First Baptist Church with Mr. Harry Hatcher officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. Private interment will follow at New River Baptist Church Cemetery.
