Roy Gilmer Quinn, 87, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2025. A respected chemist, devoted family man, and retired Chief Operating Officer of Albright & Wilson, Roy's life was marked by leadership, service, faith and generosity.

Born on October 20, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, Roy was the son of Clarence Howard Quinn and Mary Ellen Cobb Quinn. He graduated from Russell High School in East Point, Georgia, before earning his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the Virginia Military Institute. While at VMI, Roy distinguished himself as president of his class each year and as captain of the basketball team. He later completed his Master's Degree at the University of South Carolina.

Roy served his country honorably as a lieutenant in the United States Army, commanding a tank battalion during 16 years of dedicated military service. Following his military career, he began a distinguished professional career in chemistry, holding positions with DuPont and Hardwicke Chemical Company before retiring as Chief Operating Officer of Albright & Wilson/Rhodia. His expertise, leadership, and integrity earned him lasting respect within his profession.

A devoted member of the Summerville Church of Christ, Roy lived his faith through service and generosity, touching countless lives within his church and community.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia Ann "Patti" Turk Quinn; his brothers, Samuel Howard Quinn and Thomas Edward Quinn; and his sisters-in-law, Myra Quinn, Joye Quinn, and Hazel Quinn.

He is survived by his three daughters, Kelly Elizabeth Larsen of Racine, Wisconsin; Melissa Ann Cruse of Summerville, South Carolina; and Susanna Leigh Auf der Maur and her husband, Donat, of Lucerne, Switzerland. He is also survived by his sister, Marcia Elaine Quinn of Jonesboro, Georgia; his brother, Frank William Quinn of Stone Mountain, Georgia; his brother-in-law, Monte Turk and his wife, Erla, of Sedalia, Colorado; and six cherished grandchildren: Luke Larsen, Mason Cruse, Aidan Auf der Maur, Lydia Larsen, Anna Auf der Maur, and Aaron Larsen.

Roy Gilmer Quinn will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to family, his honorable service to his country, and his firm belief in God. His legacy of leadership, kindness, and integrity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow under the direction of Dial-Murray Funeral Home of Moncks Corner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Summerville Church of Christ, 413 Old Trolley Road, Summerville, SC 29483.

I knew Roy when we both attended Essex Village church of Christ a number of years ago, and my fond memories of him was that he was a kind, gentle person. He will truly be missed by those of us who knew him. Bob Black

I will truly miss cutting Roy´s hair every other week and keeping him well groomed, also remembering his strong faith in Jesus Christ as we had many talks, assuring Home that I have been a believer since I was 13 of Jesus and a follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus, I´ll be praying for your family in this difficult time knowing your daddy isn´t having awaiting the return of our savior here to bring us all together as one body in Christ
