Ricky Cox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Graniteville on Dec. 20, 2025.
Mr. Ricky Cox, 68, of Aiken, SC, beloved husband of Penny Lisa Cox, entered into rest on Thursday, December 18, 2025, while in the comfort of his home.
A lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was the son of the late Preston and Lorene Jackson Cox. He graduated from LBC High School and later worked for the Graniteville Company, where he was employed for ten years. In 1984, he went to work with SRS, where he was employed until 2001, when he was forced into early retirement due to degenerative disc disease.
Not ready to fully retire, he went to work for the Waffle House. Ricky enjoyed many good conversations with the regular patrons and acquired lifelong friends.
Ricky enjoyed cars. Whether it be working on or painting them. Sunday afternoons often found him watching Dale, Jr. and the late Dale, Sr. But most of all, Ricky enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He particularly enjoyed hosting family and friends for holiday gatherings.
Along with his wife, Ricky is survived by Penny's children, Randy (Falon) Sharpe and Adam (Samantha) Seigler, a brother, Kenneth Cox, grandchildren, Joseph Seigler, Faith (Jaylend Carlough) Phillips, and Gracie (Chris) Wilson, their parents Keith (Marsha) Phillips, a great-grandson, Remington Wilson, two nieces, Shana (Logan) Jackson and Hope (Robert) Walker, and a nephew Joshua (Amber) Cox.
Also, preceding Ricky in death were his brother, Michael Cox, a great-granddaughter, Hadley Jane Carlough, and a niece, Brandy Cox.
Friends will be greeted by the family on Monday, December 22, 2025, beginning at 3 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home, 3464 Jefferson Davis, Graniteville, SC. Brother Dexter Lambert will officiate.
