Nancy Lown Obituary

North Augusta, SC – Mrs. Nancy R. Lown, 91, entered into rest January 14, 2026. Private Graveside Services have been conducted in Westover Memorial Park, Augusta, Georgia.

Mrs. Lown was a native of Batesburg, South Carolina, having made North Augusta, SC her home for the past twenty-four years. She is the daughter of the late Lester E. Rikard and Ruby Coleman Rikard. Nancy was a member of St. John's Methodist Church and was active for many years as teacher, Bible School Director and assistant children's Choir Director. Nancy enjoyed teaching kindergarten at Fairfield school in Aiken, SC as well as serving as Director of Millbrook Baptist Church Child Development Center. She later devoted her time to United Way of Aiken as Teen Coordinating Director and donating to children's charities.

Nancy was an accomplished pianist and cook and loved singing in choirs as various churches. Her hobbies were interior decorating and yard and garden design, and she meticulously looked after each project she undertook. Being at the lake gave Nancy great pleasure all of her life and she enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with her family boating at Clarks Hill and Lake Murray.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Joseph A. Lown and eldest son, Eric Lown.

Survivors include her sons, Karl Steven Lown (Lisa) of Aiken, Kevin Stuart Lown (Nancy Lee) of North Augusta and grandson, Patrick Steven Lown.
