Mildred Dutton Obituary

Mildred Edith Landress Dutton, known as "Mick" to most of her family and friends, died at her Sonoraville home on September 17, 2025, age 93, following 16 years of dementia.

Born June 4, 1932 in Resaca to Roy Landress and Frances Goss Landress, her early life was in Resaca, Sugar Valley, briefly Liberty and Coosa, Echota Mill Village, and Calhoun. She graduated from CHS in 1949. She fell in love with Sonoraville's Sonny Dutton, and married November 29, 1952 until his death in 2009. She is also preceded in death by a special aunt, Dixie Landress, other relatives and friends.

Mick is survived by her daughter, Terresa Dutton, of their home, and despite dementia she continued to call her lovingly by her lifelong nickname "Yoyo". She is also survived by her brother, Ray Landress (Mary Lee) of Dews Pond, their four sons and family; brother, Dr. Bob Poston (Ivelyn) of Cartersville, their two sons, one daughter, and family; brother-in-law, John Dutton (Joy) of Sonoraville, their two daughters, and family; sister-in-law, Shirley Nesbitt Dutton of Oostanaula and her family. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Mick loved her family, extended family, friends, and a lifetime of beloved furbabies. She enjoyed going out to eat with loved ones. In her earlier years she enjoyed singing, roller skating, playing piano, shooting, clogging, running, reading, sewing, growing plants, crossword puzzles, genealogy, attending plays, and sending cards for all occasions, often with specially written rhymes. She was an avid crocheter and knitter throughout her life. She was well known for her crocheted baby booties, worn by several generations of babies. She was a sweet loving wife and mother, a generous lady, and a blessing to all.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Nix and Rev. George Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers are Justin Landress, Mark Dutton, Kenneth Harkins, Daniel Belvin, Kaleb Harkins, and Bryan Falls.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caring doctors, Dr. J, personnel of Rome Rehab, and Brannon's.
