Kay (Wejmar) Allen, 91, passed away on August 17, 2025, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
Kay's story began in Turlock, where she was born to Leonard and Lydia (Lundell) Wejmar. She carried that small-town warmth with her through every stage of life, from her school days at Turlock High and Modesto Junior College, to her first job at the National Farm Loan Association, and most importantly, to the home she built with her husband of 55 years, Everett Allen, Jr. Together, Kay and Everett raised four children, Laura (Bob) Walters of Turlock, David Allen of Napa, Lisa (Bruce) Doerksen of Denair, and Kara Allen of Turlock. They poured their energy into family, travel, and many friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Kay was the heartbeat of her family. She was the primary chef at holidays, the gardener who grew beautiful roses, the rock of emotional support to each of her children, and the grandmother whose lap was always open for both children and pets. She could be found reading a good book, playing cards with friends, occasionally playing the piano or laughing over a shared story.
She also had a fiercely independent streak and never wanted to be a burden to anyone, not even her children. True to form, she pre-paid for her own funeral years ago, just after Everett's passing, and left clear instructions that no interventions were to be taken as her life drew to a close. Those instructions became family law, repeated often to her children and any caregiver who happened to cross her path.
For over 60 years, Kay found spiritual and social community at Crossroads Church, where she offered quiet strength and service. She also gave her time at Emanuel Hospital's gift shop, always happiest when she could brighten someone else's day.
She leaves behind her four children, her sister Phyllis (Harry) Johnson of Santa Cruz, sister-in-law Jean Wejmar, brother-in-law Duck (Carol) Allen, sister-in-law Lanita (Bob) Moen, her grandchildren Ryan (Jen) Doerksen, Chris (Melissa) Doerksen, Shelby Walters, and Shaun (Kailyn) Walters, and great-grandchildren Addison, Aiden, Emily, Everett, Ethan and Ronnie, who will carry her warmth forward.
She was a follower of Jesus Christ and is now reunited in peace with Everett, her parents, and her two brothers, Bob and Bruce.
Kay's life was one of devotion, simple joys, and unshakable love, the kind of legacy that lingers long after goodbye.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Turlock's Covenant Care Hospice, who cared for both Kay and Everett like they were family.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 29 from 9am-10am, followed by her memorial service at 10am, both at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock.
If you are unable to attend but would like to view Kay's service, contact any of her children for a link that will be available live or for viewing anytime after.

She was a very sweet and special friend, as well as a great card player. Kay is certainly going to be missed. I know she loved Jesus and she is with Him now. I will see my friend again when He calls me home.
Love, Karen Courter
