Hilda Faye (Hovis) Roberts, 83, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord, NC.

Hilda Faye (Hovis) Roberts was born March 17, 1941, in Belmont, North Carolina to the late Ernest Lester Hovis and Gussie Iona Hovis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Daniel Roberts and daughter, Teresa Gayle Roberts. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted servant of Jesus Christ, Hilda lived a life filled with love, music, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Hilda was the cherished wife of the late Joseph Daniel Roberts. Together, they shared a deep passion for music and ministry. As a talented pianist and organist, she began playing in church at the age of 13 and continued to serve in various churches throughout her life. Since 1998, she was a dedicated member of Mallard Creek Baptist Church, where she played piano and served as church teller and treasurer. Her musical gifts enriched countless worship services as she played alongside her husband, who was a music minister.

Hilda’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children: Joel Dean Roberts (Jackie) of Stanley, NC; Reginald Carroll Roberts (Leeann) of Lafayette, GA; Clifton Blair Roberts of Concord, NC; Christopher Powers Roberts of Concord, NC; and Kandice Roberts Burke (Billy). She was also blessed with numerous grandchildren: Katherine Southern, Kres Roberts, Lindsay McDowell, Savannah Hartman, Keri Roberts, Kacie Lega, Lee Roberts, Bryan Roberts, DJ Bryson, Cesily Smith, Jake-Aaron Roberts, Tommy Laircey, Samantha Burke, Hunter Burnette, Taylor Burnette, Trent Roberts, Amanda Elrod, and Travis Gilstrap. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Aubrey Lanier, Anslee Smith, James Elrod, Devin Wall, Eden De Kruyf, Drake Smith, Jaxon Smith, Emma Elrod, Derrick Sifford, Noah McDowell, Mason McDowell, Brinlee Smith, Aiden Laircey, Harrisyn Lega, Jeffrey Elrod, Samuel Roberts, Isabella Roberts, Kole Smith, Addisyn Burke, Avery Robnett, Able Elrod, Easton Burke, Ava Roberts, Nora Roberts, Gray Lega, and Henry Hartman.

Hilda will be remembered for the warmth she brought into every room and the kindness she extended to all who knew her. Her love for music and faith left an indelible mark on those around her. The memories of her love, laughter and care will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Mallard Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at Mallard Creek Baptist Church, 3001 Morehead Rd, Charlotte officiated by Pastor Daniel Bryant. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
