Gerald Case Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. - North Catasauqua on Mar. 10, 2026.
Gerald "Doug" Douglas Case II, age 69, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at his brother's home in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. Born on February 18, 1957, at Allentown Hospital, Doug lived a life defined by devotion to family, compassion for others, and an unwavering spirit.

Doug was raised in Catasauqua, where he graduated from Catasauqua High School in 1975. He went on to attend Lebanon Valley College, where he found lifelong friendships and truly thrived as a member of the Phi Lambda Sigma fraternity. Doug dedicated much of his professional life to the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit, where his work supporting children with disabilities reflected his deep kindness, patience, and commitment to helping others.

Above all else, Doug was a family man. He is survived by his beloved children, Nicole Dorn (Rev. Scott Dorn), Gerald Case III (Taylor Case), and Joshua Case (Alyssa Case), and his cherished grandchildren, Amelia Dorn and Owen Dorn, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his loving mother, LaRue Case; his siblings, Scott Case (Susan Case), Keith Case (Maurice Gross), and Elizabeth Case; and his nephew, Jared Case (Kristi Case and Norah Case). Doug was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Case, and his daughter, Victoria Case, whom he carried in his heart every day.

Doug found happiness in life's simple but meaningful moments. He loved watching sports, especially cheering on his sons at their basketball games-no matter the distance, Doug always showed up. One of his most treasured routines was watching the Philadelphia 76ers every night alongside his mother, a tradition filled with comfort, conversation, and love.

Doug's legacy can be summed up in one word: fighter. Life presented him with many challenges, yet he met each one with resilience, humor, and an unbreakable spirit. Even in difficult moments, Doug never lost his ability to laugh or lift others up. Those who knew him will forever remember his strength, his warmth, and his reminder that even when life gets tough, it's important to smile and laugh along the way.

A Celebration of Doug's life will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 7:00-9:00p.m. at the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 1064 Fifth Street, North Catasauqua, PA 18032

To the entire Case Family! I am so sorry to hear of Doug´s passing. I know he will be missed by many friends as well as your family. It is hard to convey much comfort with just words! I worked with Doug at the National Archives from about 1980 to 1982. We had a lot of fun during and after work! . I treasure the good times and memories. I got Doug to play basketball during the winter on Monday nights and listened to his high school bball stories. There was summertime archives softball on the mall. Saw the Hagler Leonard fight with Doug- a great fun time! We imitated Irishmen one night and I remember Doug playing this role to the hilt and we hurried out of the place I moved to LA in 82 and Doug came out for the Olympics in 84 and we went to USA bball, boxing among other things. He always had a joke and I´m glad we stayed in touch over the years. God bless you Doug and your family always. Your friend Andy
