Ernest Alfonso Obituary

Ernest Michael Alfonso Jr., 93, of Meriden, loving husband of the late Lorraine (Paquin) Alfonso, Passed away April 4, 2026 at his home.

Ernie was born in Meriden on June 12, 1932, the son of the late Ernest and Helen (Yusza) Alfonso.

Ernie served in the Korean War with the 2nd Infantry Division. After his discharge from service, Ernie went to work for Allegheny Ludlum until his retirement.

Ernie is survived by his daughters, Sherri Clark and her husband, Richard, of Meriden and Karen Haught and her husband, Brandon, of Daytona Beach, FL; his son, Daniel Alfonso and his wife, Jean, of Wallingford; his sister, Barbara Passarelli, of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Natasha Mendes (Paulo), of Wallingford, Taylor Clark (Heather), of Meriden, Jocelyn Velazquez (Felix), of Meriden, Elizabeth Puglisi (Zach), of Daytona Beach, FL, Tech Sgt Christopher Puglisi (Heather), of Pelham, AL; his great grandchildren, Paige, Cameron and Dylan Clark, Spencer, Ian and Madelina Mendes, Elyana and Reina Velazquez, Teagan and Kingston Jones and Dominic Puglisi; and several nieces and nephews.

Ernie's family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 4pm until 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
