Wilma Micholas Obituary

McKinney - Wilma T. Micholas, age 92, formerly of Erie, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in McKinney, TX, with her husband and family by her side. She was born on April 3, 1933, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Gaydos.

Wilma is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Richard. She was the proud mother of five children: Lisa Ireland (John), Mike Micholas (Amy), Cheryl Rowane (Chris), Matt Micholas (Leah), and Julie Armstrong (Chad). Her legacy continues through her thirteen grandchildren-Matt, Catherine, Andrew, Betsi, Drew, Blake, Caitlyn, Caroline, Ashley, John, Katie, Luke, and Emily-and one great-grandchild, Walker. She also held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews who cherished visiting her in Erie throughout their lives.

A devout Catholic, Wilma was a long-time member of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Erie. She was deeply involved in parish life and school activities while raising her children, serving on the PTO Committee and volunteering in classrooms. She remained active in the Rosary Altar Society and generously gave her time to church events and assisting others to Mass.

Later in life, Wilma worked as a substitute teacher aide in Millcreek Schools and at the Sarah Reed Children's Center. Her compassionate nature and dedication to students with special needs left a lasting impression on staff and children alike.

Wilma loved life in Erie-whether biking at the Peninsula, enjoying concerts, or golfing with friends. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and open arms.

A celebration of her life is being planned for a later date.
