Woodrow Hartman Obituary
Woodrow "Woody" Lee Hartman, 83, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, holding his wife's hand. Born on December 13, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, Woody lived a life defined by adventure, devotion to family, and unwavering faith.
Woody is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Hartman. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. Woody cherished every moment with Suzanne-holding her hand, opening doors for her, cooking alongside her (especially his famous poached eggs), and always making sure to pump the gas for her. His love for her was evident in every gesture and word.
He was a devoted father to his daughters Terryl Warner (Alan), Christie Hartman (Chris Voeller), and Lisa Neitzey (Jason). He also held close in memory his daughter Kerryl, who preceded him in death. Woody's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Jayme Warner, Taylor Warner (Erin), Allyssa Simmons (Damon), Katie Warner, Natalie Neitzey, and Grant Neitzey. One of his great joys recently was meeting his great-granddaughter, Eleanor Louise Warner.
Woody was also preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Woodrow Hartman Sr., and his brother Jimmy.
A man of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Woody embraced life with open arms. He had a zest for living that inspired those around him. Whether competing in triathlons or tackling a mud run well into adulthood, he never shied away from a challenge. He was an avid cyclist and skier-and even tried snowboarding later in life. After retiring from his professional career, Woody continued to stay active by working at the marina, combining his love for the outdoors with a strong work ethic that never waned.
His adventurous spirit was matched only by his deep faith. Woody was an active member of Christ Church in Murrells Inlet. He found great joy in attending Father Tim's sermons each week and listening to Joshua's singing. His commitment to serving the congregation reflected the strength of his beliefs-he loved the Lord deeply and made prayer and scripture reading part of his daily life.
Woody faced frontotemporal dementia with courage and grace. His family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Traditions Health & Hospice Care and to the many friends and neighbors who offered support during this difficult time. In honor of Woody's journey, thoughts and prayers are extended to all individuals and families affected by this disease.
Woody will be remembered as a man who lived fully-with heart, humor, strength, faith, and a contagious smile! May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were touched by his remarkable life. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Christ Church, 310 Prince Creek Pkwy, Murrells Inlet.
