Susan Harvey Obituary

Susan L. Harvey, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at her home in Myrtle Beach, SC. Born in Newark, Susan was raised in Irvington and Maplewood. She raised her family in Union for over 20 years and later moved to Toms River for 15 years. The last four she resided in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Mrs. Harvey owned and operated Clothes Alley, a women's clothing shop, with two locations in Union and Neptune. Susan was a member of the American Gold Star Mother's, which she joined after losing her son, Jimmy in 2011. She loved the beach, but her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother. She is predeceased by her beloved son, James W. Harvey, II. "Jimmy" who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2011 and her sister, Patricia Ann Czachowski. Surviving are her beloved husband of 50 years, James "Jim" Harvey; her loving daughters, Christine Douglas and her husband, Stephen, Robin Raffaele and her husband, Dave and Tracey Barnhart and her husband, Joseph; her cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Michael Douglas, Patricia and Margaret Raffaele and Alyssa Barnhart. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by the interment at St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall.
