Sigrid Cork Obituary

Sigrid Bergstrom Cork, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died on July 19, 2025, at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was 81. Sigrid was born on June 25, 1944, to Sarah Van Hoy Bergstrom and Oscar Bergstrom in Atlanta, Ga. She graduated from Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Fla., and she attended Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. While at Queens College, Sigrid met and fell in love with Travis C. Cork, III who was from Claremont, Fla. They married in 1964. After living in Clemson, Walterboro, Atlanta and Bennettsville, they moved to Conway, S.C., where they lived happily for 51 years. During their time in Conway, Sigrid was a homemaker and a manager at Darden's Jewelers on Main Street as well as working for various clothing, antiques, real estate and investment businesses in the Myrtle Beach area. She volunteered with Hospice, Brookgreen Gardens, and St. Paul's Church, where she was a member of the Daughters of the King and served as a chalice-bearer during communion. Sigrid was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a Master Gardener who loved caring for the flowers and plants in her home garden. Sigrid is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Travis C. Cork III; her children, Whitney, Travis IV (Ginger Cork), and Carter (Frank Chew); her grandchildren, Riley and Regan; her sister, Sally Jackson (Charles); her brother, John Bergstrom; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned at 3 p.m. Aug. 17, 2025, at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 710 N. Main St. in Conway, S.C. A gathering of friends and family will follow in the church parish hall. In lieu of flowers, friends may send memorials to St. Paul's Anglican Church, 710 N. Main St., Conway, S.C. 29526. St. Paul's Anglican Church is handling the services, Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway, is in charge of arrangements.
