Ronald Kirby Obituary

Ronald Lynn Kirby, 92, passed away peacefully next to his wife on August 12, 2025. Ronald was born on April 29, 1933, in Allegany County, Cumberland, Maryland. His parents were George Albert Kirby and Anna Lewis (Kirby). He was the baby of the family with 3 older brothers and 2 older sisters. He graduated from Fort Hill High School Class of 1952, where he played football and ran track. This is also where he met his sweetheart, Norma in their junior year of high school. Ronald briefly attended Potomac State College. Ronald and Norma married right out of high school on February 28, 1953. They had 72 years of marriage together. They had a son (Paul) and lived in Reisterstown, Maryland. Ronald was employed at AAI Corporation in 1952 until his retirement. After retirement he and his wife moved to Conway, South Carolina. Ronald enjoyed golfing, gardening, and his grandchildren. After moving to South Carolina, he became involved in church and he loved to read and teach scripture to anyone who would listen. He was also involved in volunteering at the local hospital and at the college football games as an usher. He was instrumental in putting together a youth football and basketball program in the late 70's in the local town he lived in named Reisterstown. Ron was an amazing grandfather to his grandchildren. He always went out of his way to ensure that he was informed about their lives. He would make trips monthly with his wife to visit them and he had a bond with his son that was unbreakable. Ron's favorite moments were sitting on the couch watching college football and eating ice cream with his wife. Ron was completely dedicated to his family. Mr. Kirby was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 72 years, Norma Jean Kirby; his son Paul and (Patty) Kirby of Cleves, Ohio; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joshua and (Amanda) Kirby- New Jersey, Cayla, Madison, and Breanna Coen and (Jose) Marrero- New York, Michael, Harlow, Ruby, and Maverick, Stephiane Woods- Texas, Abygail, Kendalynn, Juliana, Katherine and (Drew) Swalls- South Carolina. No local services are planned at this time. You may share memories and thoughts in his guest register at www.goldfinchfuneralhome.com
