Robin Awalt Obituary
Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Monday, June 9, 2025. Robin Simmons Awalt, 60, passed away peacefully at Conway Medical Center.
Robin was a woman of remarkable strength - resilient, grounded, and fiercely loyal to those she loved. Her warmth was felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her laughter could brighten the darkest day, and her compassion knew no limits. Whether offering a listening ear, a comforting hug, or just her steady presence, Robin made people feel truly seen and deeply loved.
She lived with purpose, grace, and fire - a combination that made her unforgettable. Robin's life was rooted in her faith; her relationship with God guided her every step of the way and gave her strength through every season. The love of her life, Gary, her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 39 years, was her constant companion and greatest source of joy. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and unshakable devotion. But it was their son, Houston, who was truly the center of Robin's heart - her pride, her joy, and her greatest blessing.
Robin was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Sara Westberry Simmons, and her father, Herman Thomas Simmons. She is survived by her husband Gary Awalt her son, Houston Awalt (Kayla), her sister, Betty Bashor (Glenn), and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She leaves behind her beloved four-legged companions: Willie, Ellie Mae, Sissy, and Rifle - each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Robin graduated from Socastee High School in 1982, where she was active in the pom-pom squad and drama club. She earned her associate's degree in business from Horry Georgetown Technical College in 1984 and later returned to graduate summa cum laude in 2004 with a degree in accounting.
She worked at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base from 1984 until 1995 while also building a 34-year career at Conway Medical Center - a place she considered a second home and where she touched countless lives with her dedication and caring nature. At just 4'9", she was a firecracker with a heart of gold - small in stature but mighty in spirit. She was a lighthouse, her beacon shining bright for all who needed hope, love, or simply a reason to smile. Her unfailing optimism was contagious, and her smile lit up every room she entered. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her - not just as a wife, mother, sister, and friend, but as a light in this world that burned brightly and beautifully.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
