Bob was a skilled man with an eye for detail and an appreciation for the little things in life. He was a dedicated middle and high school teacher for 39 years, and proudly taught numerous young minds, helping to shape the future of the carpentry trade. He taught Industrial Arts at Gauger-Cobbs Middle School in Newark, Delaware, and then taught Construction at Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical High School in Newark, Delaware until his retirement. While teaching at Gauger-Cobbs Middle School, he was awarded the Christina School Districts' Middle School Teacher of the Year (1988) in recognition of his years of teaching experience which enabled countless students to grow and develop in the carpentry disciplines he taught.
Following retirement, he and Myrle relocated to
Murrells Inlet, South Carolina in 2003 after residing in Elkton, Maryland for 29 years. Bob and Myrle were long time parishioners of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newark, Delaware, and Holy Lamb Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In his free time, Bob could be seen spending time with his children and grandchildren, working in the yard, playing 18 holes on the golf course, practicing his swing at the driving range, remodeling his home, working on the family cars, watching his beloved Phillies baseball and Eagles football, and eating chocolate ice cream. He cherished time spent making memories with family and friends. Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him and forever remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others, but most of all, for the love he had for his beautiful wife and family.
A Celebration of Bob's life will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. At the request of the family and in lieu of flowers, please consider an act of kindness in memory of Bob. You may also consider making a donation to Holy Lamb Lutheran Church (Myrtle Beach, SC) in his memory.
