Robert Root Obituary

Robert Lavern Root age 50, of Conway, South Carolina, went to meet his lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on June 1st, 2025 at Conway Medical Center. He was born October 3rd, 1974 in Monmouth, IL. Son of Gary and Janet Root. On April 23rd, 2011, he married Melissa Spiker in Stronghurst, IL. Robert had a love for all sports and enjoyed coaching, watching his kids in soccer, softball and baseball. He was an active member of the Rock Church in Conway, SC where he was baptized and served on the parking team. He loved spending time with family and friends, going to all Coastal Carolina sporting events, serving in his community, and doing what he did best - helping others through his carpentry work. He never met a stranger.
He is survived by: his wife, Melissa (Missy Spiker) Root; his parents Gary and Janet Root; his Grandmother, Mary Short, and their blended family of 8 children, Traven Root (Holly Gulberg), Tyler Root (Kennedy Krogmeier), Taren Root, Talon Root (Mariah Fye), Kendra Spiker (Cody) Schooley, Austin Spiker, Marissa Spiker and Adelyn Root. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren: Jackson, Bella, Carter, Kaiden, Asher, Harper, Ariya, Autumn, Oliver, Charlotte and Jack; 2 sisters, Kim Root, Doorenbos (James) Smith and Kathie Root (Billy) Gaines; several nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by: his grandparents, Robert and Louise Cole; Lavern Root and Father-In-Law, Jim Spiker; his uncle's Steve Cole and David Root; Aunts, Debbie Root and Sherri Lant.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5th at Watson Funeral Home in Conway from 3-5pm where the family will be present. Come dressed casually or a CCU shirt if you have it. Cremation will be accorded following the visitations.
A Celebration of his life will be at a later date in Stronghurst, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the family and or the Rock Church in Conway.
