Robert McCoy Obituary

Bob McCoy, a resident of Greensboro, North Carolina for more than 50 years, passed away on September 30, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born on May 31, 1944, in Roane County, WV. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from West Virginia University in 1966 and 1967. A devoted Mountaineer, he remained an active supporter of the university throughout his life. Bob built a distinguished career with 3M Company, beginning in sales in 1969. Over the years, he served as a sales trainer, Account Executive, and Sales Manager for the Eastern Region of the United States. He was honored as Salesman of the Year three times. He also earned membership into the Legends Club, Society of Imagineers, and the Masquers Club. Bob was married to his wife, Joy Anderson McCoy, for 57 years. He is survived by his wife and their four children: Kristine McCoy Lano (Cole), Matthew Shawn McCoy, Kimberly McCoy Nunn (Stephen), and Kathryn McCoy Ward (Michael); and by his grandchildren: Morgan and Sutton Lano, Anderson, Owen, and Haven Nunn, and Emma Ward. Bob loved sports, was an avid golfer, and cherished time with family. His faith, generosity, and dedication to those he loved were the defining qualities of his life.
