Robert Ford Obituary

Robert E. Ford of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, with his loving, devoted wife by his side. Robert was born in Trenton, NJ on August 6, 1940, where he lived most of his life until moving to Murrells Inlet, SC. He was employed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Transportation where he retired after 25 years.
Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was adored by everyone who knew him. He loved spending time with the love of his life dancing, shopping, dinners out and just being together. He loved being outdoors boating, clamming, crabbing, shrimping and playing tennis. He enjoyed working with his hand on many woodworking projects but most of all spending quality time with his family. He was a member of the Chambersburg Hunting Club in Chatsworth, NJ and a member of the Moose Lodge in Surfside, SC. He held his Masters Plumbers License in New Jersey.
Predeceased by his parents Walter and Catherine (Verducci) Ford, Robert is survived by his wife Maryann (Castranova) Ford the love of his life who cared for him in his final days; brother Walter Ford of Levitown PA; sister Joan Toth of Bordentown NJ; his loving sons Robert E. Ford II and Leanne Cifelli of Manahawkin, NJ; Brian J. Ford of Socastee, SC; grandchildren Robert E Ford III and his wife Amanda Ford of Charlotte, NC; Cassidy (Ford) Stoneberg and her husband Matthew Stoneberg of Bel Air, MD; Harrison P. Ford, Socastee, SC and his girlfriend Dominique Terrell; Syndey R. Ford of Murrells Inlet, SC and her boyfriend Clay Bartunek.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Surfside Moose Lodge #2351, Surfside Beach, SC on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Robert Ford's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) or PO Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and all the many caregivers who assisted and were so loving and kind during his illness.

It was always Aunt Maryann and Uncle Bob, the complete pair made for each other. I remember hearing how he drove my Mom to school when she was younger, or all the times he helped my Dad with the plumbing in their new house. I´ll never forget all the Christmas Eves at my parent´s house, or the BBQs at their house every summer, or all the birthday parties they always so graciously showed up for to support us...so many happy memories to counter this sad time. Thank you for loving and protecting my Aunt Maryann all these years. Thank you, also, for leaving a legacy of wonderful memories for the world to remember you by. You were always so kind. What a testament to a life well lived. We will miss you.

I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Bob. I have such great memories of him. I remember visiting him and Aunt Maryann as a kid when they lived in NJ. We would go there for Christmas parties and summer picnics. I was young, but I remember playing in their basement and in their backyard. I also remember visiting them in SC several years later, when Uncle Bob took us clamming and we collected buckets of shellfish. And, of course, my wedding when he, Aunt Maryann, Robert, and Brian came all the way up to CT to be there with us that day. That meant a lot to Melanie and I. Uncle Bob was always so nice to us. He was a great example for everyone who knew him.
