Raymond Smith Obituary

Carolina Forest- Raymond "Ray" K. Smith, 90, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Mr. Smith was born on September 14, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to parents Horace and Cecilia Smith. Mr. Smith was an artist, entrepreneur, real estate investor, and inventor, who enjoyed sailing and skiing in his free time. Mr. Smith studied at the Philadelphia College of Arts, and taught at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. He was a 20th Century version of a Renaissance Man and a creative visionary. He lived true to himself, unburdened by societal conventions. In his retirement years, he was a "Snow Bird" who enjoyed spending winters in Florida. Mr. Smith is preceded by his parents, Horace Smith and Cecilia Smith; and brother, Frank Smith. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Judith Ann Ferris; children, Todd Smith and his wife Laura Wilkes, Reyna Smith; grandchildren, Jude and Brittany. Services are pending. Goldfinch Funeral Home- Carolina Forrest Chapel is handling the arrangements.
