Phil Harth Obituary
Phil Harth, 88 years young, passed away peacefully at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, Murrells Inlet, SC, surrounded by loving family. He was born March 3, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Frank Harth and Margaret Newton Harth, and raised in Queens, NY.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of 41 happy and fulfilling years, Nancy, and blended family. Phil's son, Michael Harth, Summerfield, FL, grandson, Tyler Harth, wife Jessica, and great grandson, Maxton, Swansboro, NC. Nancy's son, Peter Weingaertner and Sherry Free, grandchildren, Peter Larson, Deanna Larson, St Augustine, FL, and foster fur-baby Maggie. Phil often spoke of how proud he was of his family...all hardworking, capable, and industrious grounded in family traditions and values.
Phil is celebrating his heavenly home with his beloved parents, brother Richard, and five fur-babies he adored and who adored him....Yankee Scooter, Kerry Blue, Holly Ann, Nicky, and Mr Hobbs always sitting on his welcoming lap...especially to watch the NY Yankees.
Phil joined the US Navy Reserve in 1954, age 17, and was honored to serve. In 1955, age 18, he activated for duty until 1957, serving on the USS Steinaker and USS Beale. He then returned to the Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1962. Phil's service years were the most impactful of his life and where he developed life and discipline skills that served him well throughout his life and future law enforcement career.
In 1958, Phil attended Erie Technical College, Buffalo, NY, earning a degree and licensing in Ophthalmic Dispensing (Optician) following in the steps of his Father and Brother. In 1962, he decided to follow a different career path and joined the ranks of the New York State Police as a Trooper until retirement in 1988. After retirement and the move to Myrtle Beach in 1993, Phil resumed work in hotel security, optical, and on the golf course.
Phil's passions....a life-long NY Yankees fan and idolized Micky Mantle, casinos, golf, single malt Scotch, and over 25 years of bowling earning lots and lots of trophies.

A Celebration of Phil's life will be held at 1 :30 PM Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
