Nancy Forman Obituary

Nancy Forman (Ransford) passed away on August 10, 2025 after a battle with cancer. She and her husband Charlie Forman, were longtime residents of Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach SC. They were married on April 10, 1987 and celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary this year. They bought a condo in 2004 in River Crossing in Barefoot Resort and later moved into their new home in the Brookstone neighborhood in 2008. Nancy was born December 10, 1945 to Joseph and Patricia (Burke) Ransford. The Ransford family was a large Irish Catholic family on the south side of Chicago IL. She had four siblings: Mary Jo White (William) Oil City PA, Robert Ransford (Dorothy) Frankfort IL, David Ransford, Skokie IL and Kathy Ransford, Chicago IL. She graduated from Aquinas Dominican High School in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago. Nancy was very creative and had an entrepreneurial spirit. She owned a flower shop and later a gift shop near Naperville IL. Nancy has three sons from a previous marriage: Ronald Kowalski (Kristy) Lorton VA, Robert Kowalski (Jennifer) Champaign IL and Steven Kowalski, Normal IL. Nancy's family expanded when she married Charlie to include a daughter Kellie Forman (Phil Konecki) Boston MA, and two sons, Robert Forman, Fort Worth TX and Michael Forman, (Aimee) Southlake TX. Nancy's family also includes many wonderful grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Andrew, Miranda, Alex, Connor, Courtney, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Cayden, Victoria, Jacob, Matthew and Samuel. She loved it when they visited and enjoyed taking them to the beach and many other entertainment venues in the area. She and Charlie encouraged them to take up golf and take advantage of the golf lessons at Barefoot while they were here. Growing up Nancy had never been a big sports fan, in spite of her mother and 3 sons being Cub Fans. That all changed when she married Charlie. She too became an avid Cub fan and also took up golf at Charlie's urging. They retired to North Myrtle Beach from Bloomingdale IL because of the many great golf courses at Barefoot and surrounding area, nearness to the ocean and to escape IL cold winters. She became an avid golfer and joined the BLGA soon after its formation. She loved golf outings with her friends and created many memories and lasting friendships over the years. Nancy worked at Eaglewood Resort near Chicago prior to her retirement. She loved to travel and that experience in the travel industry enabled her to book herself and Charlie on many golf trips. Among those were St Andrews Old Course in Scotland, Ballybunion, Old Head and the Ryder Cup in Ireland, Turtle Bay in Oahu, Pebble Beach in California and the Ocean Course at Kiowa Island and Harbor Town Golf Links at Hilton Head. Nancy had a great sense of humor and would often break into an Irish brogue and commence telling jokes. And she loved playing Aprils Fools jokes on Charlie. Of course he always fell for them. She loved living in Barefoot Resort and the Brookstone community in Barefoot and spending time with her many friends. Visitation Services will be held at McMillan-Small Funeral Home on September 13th, 2025, 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. The Service which will be held immediately following the service, 11:00 AM, will be Live Streamed for those unable to attend (https://www.youtube.com/@MSFH/streams).
