Myron Creel Obituary

Conway Mr. Myron Emory Creel, age 77, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Born September 9, 1947 in Conway, SC, he was the son of the late Joe Clyde Creel and Julia Gertrude Seyle Creel. Mr. Creel was of the Methodist faith and was a former member of New El Bethel Methodist Church which led him to become a layspeaker. Mr. Creel attended both the University of South Carolina and Coastal Carolina University. He proudly served in the US Navy. Mr. Creel was a police officer, having worked with South Carolina Highway Patrol dispatch in Columbia and Myrtle Beach Police Department. He began working with the Horry County Police Department in 1979 and served until his retirement. Mr. Creel was a member of the Myrtle Beach #353 Masonic Lodge, where he served as past Master, past District Deputy Grand Master for the 29th Masonic District and was currently the sitting Chaplain. He was also in the Masonic Service Association for over ten years. He was also a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a York Rite Mason. Mr. Creel was an advisor for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, where he stood to protect and serve. He was a member of the Omar Shriners Hospital Chef's Unit with the Horry County Shrine Club. He proudly cooked hamburgers and hotdogs at no charge for our Veterans. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederacy following his retirement. Mr. Creel was a storyteller with a good sense of humor and loved telling jokes. He was an avid history buff who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents, Mr. Creel was predeceased by infant twin brothers. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Pat Creel; one son, Jason Creel (Glory); two granddaughters; a brother, Joe Creel (Rona); and a sister, Judy Marshall (George). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 1, 2025 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children - Greenville, 950 W Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
