Michael Hemsing Obituary
Michael Paul Hemsing, age 30, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Born in White Plains, NY, Michael was the son of Michael K. Hemsing and Elizabeth Gillert Hemsing.
Michael was a devoted father to two sons and a daughter, who were the light of his life. His children were his greatest pride, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. Whether it was late-night snuggles, building LEGO creations, or watching endless episodes of Ms. Rachel just to see them smile, or spending hours making sure their bikes & toys were perfect, Michael gave his whole heart to fatherhood. He especially loved sharing the joy of firefighting and fire trucks with his sons, lighting up everytime they visited him at the fire station or saw him in uniform - the pride in their eyes matching the pride in his heart. He found his deepest joy in watching them grow, laugh, and learn. Everything he did-from working long shifts, fixing things around the house, to pursuing his personal goals-was rooted in providing a better life for them. His love was fierce, unconditional, constant, and unwavering.
He was a remarkably gifted and talented man who could literally build an entire house and fix anything in it then move on to rebuilding the front end of his pickup simply because he wasn't satisfied with its design.
He took tremendous pride in his service as a respected member of the Horry County Fire Rescue, where he served as a Firefighter/EMT first as a volunteer to career firefighter assigned to Station 7. His dedication to his fellow firefighters and his unwavering commitment to the fire department were truly unmatched.
Michael is survived by his wife, Alyssa Hemsing; though they battled through their challenges, Michael kept their children at the center while working with Alyssa to raise them. He is also survived by his beloved children: sons Carter Michael Hemsing and Grayson James Hemsing and daughter Elliana Marie Hemsing, his mother and father Elizabeth and Michael K. Hemsing; sisters Amanda and Jennifer Hemsing; as well as numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Loretta Hemsing, and his maternal grandfather Alfred Gillert.
Funeral services with honors, provided by Horry County Fire Rescue, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Ekklesia Christian Church, 2469 US-501, Conway, SC 29526. Friends and family may gather 1 hour prior to service time from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
