Martha Hucks Obituary

Charleston, SC Mrs. Martha K. Hucks, age 96, widow of the late Clifton R. Hucks, Sr., passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Bon Secours St. Francis Xavier Hospital following a brief onset illness. Born December 11, 1928 in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Herbert H. Knox and the late Lena Paschal Knox. Mrs. Hucks was a loving and devoted wife and mother who spent her life caring for her husband, children, and home. She graduated from Olympia High School and Draughon's Business College in Columbia and was a charter member of St. Philip Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach. After moving to Charleston, Mrs. Hucks was an active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Her other interests included knitting and sewing. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Hucks was predeceased by ten of her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth McMahon, Elllie Johnson, Mary Johnson, Julia Knox, Sam Knox, Bill Knox, Jency Knox, Lester Knox, Johnny Knox, and Paschal Knox. Survivors include her children, Clifton R. Hucks, Jr. and wife Nancy L. Hucks and Jill Joyner and husband Curtis; her grandchildren, Ashley Willard and husband Joseph, Matthew Joyner, and Kendall Joyner; her great-grandson, Blaine Willard and wife Danielle; and her sister, Shirley Knox. Graveside services, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Harrington, will be held at 2:30PM Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Ocean Woods Cemetery in Myrtle Beach.
