Marshall Godwin Obituary

Conway Marshall Godwin, age 76, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025 at his home. Mr. Godwin was born in Conway, a son of the late Mack Marshall Godwin and the late Ruby Skipper Godwin. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was also a Mason and a Shriner. Mr. Godwin was a faithful member of North Conway Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed golf, fishing, and watching movies. Throughout his life, Mr. Godwin was a hard worker and a successful businessman. He developed real estate, was the founder and former owner of Palmetto Paving Corp., and also owned and operated Marshall Godwin Construction. He was devoted to his family and will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law and friend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Godwin was predeceased by his sister, Sybil Faulk. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia "Jenny" Godwin of Conway; one son, Shawn Godwin (Nikki) of Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Candy Woods (Mark) of Myrtle Beach and Niki Traylor (Chris) of Evansville, IN; eight grandchildren, Kylie and Trinity Woods, Gwyn, Marshall, Sydney and Courtney Traylor and Sabrina and Simone Godwin; one brother, Donald Godwin (Jeannette); and three aunts, Ethel Davis, Lou Culler, and Pat Skipper. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 28, 2025 at North Conway Baptist Church with Dr. Jay Worthington officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial at Hillcrest Cemetery will be private. Friends are also invited to visit with the family at Mr. Godwin's residence at 4:30 PM on Monday.
