Conway, SC Malinda Dunbar Sasser, lovingly known as "Mimi," 70, of Conway, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, surrounded by her family at the Medical University of South Carolina. Born on February 26, 1955, in Bennettsville, SC, Mimi was the daughter of the late Council "Julian" Dunbar Jr. and Betty Sue Brown Dunbar. Much of her childhood was spent moving across South Carolina as her father rose through the ranks of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. One of those moves brought the family to Conway, SC, where a young Mimi met a "pasty white freckled face kid" who wouldn't leave her alone-Charles Sasser. Though their lives took different paths for a time, fate would bring them back together. Mimi graduated from St. Angela's Academy in Aiken, SC, in 1973. In 1986, her path crossed again with Charles, and they were married soon after. Like her father, Charles had a career in law enforcement, serving with the Horry County Police Department and later with the U.S. Customs Service. Their life together was an adventure, taking them to posts in Charleston, Nassau, Bahamas, and Myrtle Beach. While living in Nassau, Mimi served as the Community Liaison Office Coordinator (CLO) for two U.S. Ambassadors, a role in which she thrived and touched many lives. Upon returning to Myrtle Beach, she began a successful career in real estate with Coldwell Banker Realty. More than her professional roles, Mimi was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend. She had an effortless ability to connect with others and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and love. Mimi is survived by her husband, Charles Ernest Sasser, and their five children: Christopher Wolf (Margaret "Meg"), Lesley Ann O'Neal (Douglas), Helen Priscilla Harman (William), Charles Marsh Sasser (Laura), and Julian Hunter Sasser (Bailey). She also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren: Jacob, Wyatt, Ally Saville, Wiggins, Paisley, Callen, and Millie Margaret. Mimi is also survived by her brother, Perry Frank Dunbar, and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Suzanna Dunbar Maroney. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Scott Johnson, will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or
