Lucille Simerly Obituary

The earthly world lost one of its brightest lights as Lucille Barron Simerly, age 96 ½, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 27, 2025 with her loving family by her side. Originally from the rolling hills of Habersham County, Georgia, and most recently of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Lucille was truly the most beautiful soul - radiant both inside and out. Lucille Barron Simerly was born October 15, 1928 to Lexie Kastner Barron and Wavery B. Barron in Habersham County, Georgia. Preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, her son, Benny Simerly, the love of her life, Ozro E. Simerly, and her dear son in law, Stephen H. Litaker. She is survived by her only daughter, Brenda Simerly Litaker, her only grandson, Eddie Baker (Daina), and her only granddaughter, Carol Baker Bradley (Brad) along with her great-grandchildren, Justin, Hunter, Ben and Hayden, Connor, and Bri. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Kinsey and numerous special nieces and nephews. Lucille lived a life full of grace, love, and unwavering kindness. She had a rare gift of making everyone feel cherished, and her warmth could light up any room she entered. Her family was her greatest pride and joy; as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she poured endless love, encouragement, and wisdom into every generation that followed her. Throughout her life, Lucille embodied the values of faith, compassion, and resilience. Her strength was matched only by her gentleness, and her laughter was a melody that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her. Whether she was offering a comforting word, sharing a sweet story from her Georgia roots, or celebrating life's simple joys by the sea in South Carolina, Lucille's presence was a blessing beyond measure. Though words can never fully capture the essence of such a remarkable woman, Lucille's legacy of love, kindness, and beauty will live on through her family and all who were privileged to know her. She showed us all what it meant to live fully, love deeply, and give generously. Her life was a gift, her memory a treasure. Lucille Barron Simerly will be forever missed and always remembered.
