Lois Nappi Obituary

Lois Ann Nappi, 89 passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, with her loved ones by her side. Lois was born in Staten Island, NY to Angelo and Mary Messina and was predeceased by her parents and brother Robert Messina. Lois was raised in Jersey City, NJ until the family relocated to Port Monmouth, NJ where she attended Red Bank Catholic High School. Lois met her loving husband Niel at a local dance. She loved to dance and had a wonderful partner in Niel. We have many memories of watching our parents dance around the living room and at family events. Lois and Niel built their first home by themselves with the help of family in Keyport, NJ and later moved to Middletown, NJ where they raised their 3 children. Lois loved living in Middletown where she was close to her relatives and many friends. While raising her family, Lois held many different jobs over the years; all being related to working with people. She cut hair, sold furniture, worked in a flower shop, was a school crossing guard for many years at Harmony Grammar School in Middletown and in later years volunteered for a crisis helpline. She was very outgoing and loved to talk… to everyone. After Lois and Niel retired, they moved to Whiting NJ where they enjoyed many happy years. They traveled, participated in many community outings and made fast friends with new neighbors. Lois's loving husband Niel passed away in 2022. They were married for 63 years. Lois recently moved to Myrtle Beach, SC to be near her daughter Barbara. Only in Myrtle Beach for a year, Lois touched the lives of everyone she knew. Her friendly demeanor and quick wit were a bright light for all who knew her. For Lois, life was all about family and love. She was kind, generous, compassionate and would do anything to help anyone if she could. She was also feisty, a force of nature and could hold her own if need be. Lois held a strong commitment of love and faith in God and this country. She lived a full, happy life and will be missed deeply by all who loved her but her strength will live on in all of us. Lois is survived by her children, Barbara of Myrtle Beach, SC, Niel and fiancé Cheryl Harris, of Port St. Lucie, FL and MaryAnn of Toms River, NJ. Her grandson Niel Robert and his fiancé Julie Fischer, her granddaughter Alicia Marie and their mother Sandy Kok, all of NJ. Her sisters-in-law, Joan Guerriero and Loretta Nappi, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends are invited to join a memorial mass which will be held at St. Catherines Roman Catholic Church, 130 Bray Avenue, Middletown, NJ on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 9:30 AM. A repast will follow at the Molly Pitcher Inn, 88 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
