Lloyd Coppedge Obituary
Lloyd W. Coppedge, 80, of Myrtle Beach, passed away on July 19th, 2025, at his home in Briarcliffe Acres, surrounded by his loving family and a few close friends. Born on April 23rd, 1945, in Abilene, Texas, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and close friend whose huge heart and love for others touched countless lives.
Lloyd began his career after graduating from Texas Tech with a bachelor's in accounting and worked for American Can, Consolidated Aluminum, and several other manufacturing companies before coming to Myrtle Beach and purchasing Wolverine Brass in 1988. Because of his remarkable business sense, extraordinary work ethic, and most of all his dedication and love for those who worked for him, Wolverine thrived and became a place for hundreds of people to earn their livelihood and become family. Lloyd knew every employee and their family members by name. The depth of care and love Lloyd had for everyone that worked for him was astounding. This, in a very small way, illustrates the heart Lloyd had for those he loved, and those God put in his path through his loyalty to his work. Living in Myrtle Beach and loving this area so deeply also gave Lloyd a passion for food and restaurants, and he was given the opportunity to partner in a legacy restaurant group, Divine Dining. Given Lloyd's love of all things food related, this was a perfect place for him to serve the Myrtle Beach community and for the thousands of employees at Divine Dining to benefit from his leadership and again, the deep care and love he had for everyone. In April, Lloyd turned 80 and was still working daily in the restaurant business until weeks before his passing.
Lloyd and his sister Kay grew up in Big Spring, Texas and were raised by Loyd and Mary, a police officer and homemaker/daycare operator. Lloyd has two daughters, Tracie and Allison. Given the nature of corporate work, he and his family moved all over country. Lloyd traveled the world making close friends wherever he went. He even has "adopted nieces and nephews" in China.
Once he moved to Myrtle Beach, in addition to his business ventures, he met a beautiful artist living in Georgetown and hired her to paint a painting for him. Years later, they reconnected, and Bobby Wilkes married Lloyd and Judi in Pawleys Island in 1999.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Judith Coppedge: children, Tracie (Brent) Howard and Allison Coppedge, Hunter (Christy) Brown and Shelley (Jim) Woodward; grandchildren, Jason (Samantha) Howard, Jake (Jen) Howard, Sam (Emily) Howard, Kate & Colby Brown, and Natalie & Hayne Woodward; great grandchildren, JD Howard, Colton Howard, Jack Howard and Daisy Howard; sibling, Kay Goodwin and her husband Ronnie. He is also survived by special family in Texas, Cindy & Bobby Platt, Jan & Wes Golden, Chris Wilkins, Paula Bush, and Lana Hutson and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd D. Coppedge & Mary Agnes Coppedge.
Lloyd's legacy of love, generosity, and humor will live on in the heart of all who knew him!! If you had Lloyd Coppedge as your friend, then you knew you had a guardian angel.
A celebration of life will be held at Bubba's Fish Camp & Smokehouse on 21st Avenue, Myrtle Beach, Friday July 25, 2025, from Noon-3:00pm.
