Linda Backus Obituary

Linda L. Backus 78, passed away Sunday July 13, 2025 at Embrace Hospice in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was born October 21, 1946, in Oberlin, Ohio a daughter of the Glenn Clapp and Eleanor Clapp. She was preceded by her three beloved Grey Hounds Simon, Gracie and Rocky. Linda graduated from Oberlin Senior High School in 1964. She graduated from Lorain Community College in 1967, with an associate in arts degree in English and Speech. She received a B.S Degree in Elementary Education from Kent State University in 1971, and her Master's degree in Learning Disabilities/Behavior Disorders in 1975. Following her graduation, she taught at numerous schools in Ohio. She served as a principal, as a director of youth services for the Stark County Board of Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities in Canton, Ohio. She Retired as Director of Residential Service from the Lorain County Board of Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities in Elyria, Ohio. She is Survived y her husband of 42 ½ years, Greg Backus of North Myrtle Beach. Services will be private. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Linda L.
