Joseph "Wayne" "Bruz" Gordon, Jr., 56, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday November 4, 2025 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on February 25, 1969 in Conway, South Carolina to Carol Strickland Hughes and the late Joseph W. Gordon, Sr.
Bruz was a hardworking man with a heart of gold and a zest for life. He was a skilled mechanic who proudly oversaw his father's business, Gordon's Auto Sales & Service of Murrells Inlet where he and his daughter proudly remained active in their community. In his free time, Bruz enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing. Bruz relished time spent with family and friends. He was the life of the party who loved to make people laugh. Bruz will be deeply missed for his bright smile, outgoing personality and the love he had for his family.
Left to cherish Bruz's memory are his adoring daughter, Brittany Gordon, her fiancé, Hannah and grandson, Colton all of Pawleys Island; mother, Carol Strickland Hughes; sister, Pattie Gordon of Murrells Inlet; nieces, Taylor, Renae & Lauren; special friend, Shandra Wright; as well as a large, loving, extended family, many great- nieces and great-nephews; and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Bruz's life will be held at Back Home BBQ in Murrells Inlet. The date and time will be announced when finalized.
