Joseph Foley Obituary

Joseph Patrick Foley, 87, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of New York, passed away on July 5, 2025. Born on April 11, 1938, in Queens, NY, to Joseph Ryan Foley and Alma Walsh, Joe grew up in the Red Hook Projects in Brooklyn, NY, a heritage he carried with pride throughout his life.
Joe was a devoted husband to Patricia (Patsy) Anne Foley and a loving father to his daughter Claire Grice (Christopher) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, son Sean Foley of Queens, NY, stepson Daniel Ortiz (Jaime) of Lagrangeville, NY, and stepdaughter Lorraine Gregorchuk (Scott) of Villanova, PA. He was a cherished grandfather to Ruby Grice, Aidan and Ryan Ortiz, and Logan and Dylan Dunn. He leaves behind a sister in law Sharon Mulhern of Lantana, FL, a brother in law, Michael Mulhern of Long Valley, NJ and his children, Kellen, Kyle, Charlotte and Veronica and many nephews and nieces from the Clark, Bartkowski, Henley, and Tumiski families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Joseph, and sisters Audrey, Pat, Alma, and Janet.
A man of faith, Joe had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary, and was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church. A tireless volunteer, Joe washed dishes at community soup kitchens since the early 1990's, serving at the Myrtle Beach Community Kitchen and Shepherd's Table in Conway, where he was honored with the Sponge Award. He was also recently awarded a Quilt of Valor for his service in the United States Army.
Joe's professional life was marked by integrity and success. After serving in the Army, he began his career in 1958 at Merrill Lynch, later becoming an Institutional Sales trader at Deutsche Bank. Known on Wall Street as "Father Foley" for his honesty, Joe's reputation followed him into retirement, where he excelled as a real estate agent for Beverly Homes Construction, achieving the most two-sided sales in the company's history due to the trust clients placed in him.
An avid reader, golfer, and Fox News enthusiast, Joe was deeply engaged in politics and community service. He supported charities like Tunnel to Towers and Wounded Warrior, reflecting his commitment to veterans and those in need. Joe offered a handshake and kind word to all who were near, a big pat on the back to the men he loved, a warm hug and kiss to the women in his life, and with a big smile, the Blessings of God upon all.
Visiting hours will be held at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC, on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM–4:00 PM and 6:00 PM–8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Michael Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Avenue, Murrells Inlet, SC, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 1:30 PM, with a live stream available at www.saintmichaelsc.net via the StreamSpot Streaming Site.
