Joseph Dawson Obituary

Joseph Edward Dawson of South Carolina passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 14. He was 49 years old. Born in Suffern, New York, Joseph was the son of Pauline and Harold Dawson. Joe served for six years with the United States Coast Guard, eighteen years with the New York State Police as an Investigator, and was currently serving, at the time of his death, with the Myrtle Beach Police Department. During his time with the United States Coast Guard, Joseph was stationed out of Staten Island on 9/11 and worked at Ground Zero. Joe was a member of the Nights of Columbus, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and loved to salt water fish. Joseph is survived by Nicole Dawson; his son Nicholas Dawson; his three brothers John (MaryAnn) Dawson, James (Joan) Dawson, and Jeffrey (Lynn) Dawson; nieces Jennifer and Julie; his nephew Brian; and six great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church at 542 Cypress Ave, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church.
