John Walsh Obituary
John "Shawn" Walsh, 64, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Keansburg, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2025.
Born on December 29, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York, Shawn was the beloved son of the late Mary Theresa and Joseph Walsh. He was one of 13 siblings and is survived by Tommy, Michael, Mary Ellen, Danny, Brian, Kathy, Patricia, Timmy, and Jerry. He is predeceased by his brothers Skip and Kevin, sister Carol, sister-in-law Anna, brother-in-law Bruce Levy and nephew Joseph Levy.
Shawn was a loving father to Brooke and Eric, as well as a proud father-in-law to Christopher. He was an adoring grandfather to Jason, who was the joy of his life. Known affectionately as "Poppadukes," he visited and called as often as he could, always wanting to stay close to those he loved.
He shared his later years with his loving partner, Terri Barbato, and their dog Skye, with whom he built a life filled with laughter and beach days in Myrtle Beach. He was deeply loved by Terri's daughters, their spouses, and grandchildren, with whom he shared countless special moments with.
Affectionately known as "Uncle Goon" to many, Shawn was deeply loved by his nieces and nephews - all of whom he cherished as if they were his own. His presence brought laughter, comfort, and fun to every family gathering. He was everyone's favorite uncle, always ready with a joke, or "The Claw."
Shawn was a "Toys 'R' Us kid" who never truly grew up. He was a kid at heart and could make anyone laugh with his playful humor and endless generosity. He would quite literally give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He also collected Hess trucks and was an avid NY Mets fan.
He will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul - a devoted father, loving partner, loyal friend, and a man whose heart was bigger than most. Shawn's presence filled every room with warmth and joy, and his memory will live forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family will gather to greet friends from 5pm until 7pm on Friday November 7, 2025 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
