John Hurston Obituary

John Allan Hurston, 59, passed away on Thursday September 25, 2025 at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on February 14, 1966 in Germany to the late William E. Hurston & Annette DeCilles Hurston. Along with his parents, John is reunited in passing with sister, Susan Todd. John was a skilled commercial fisherman who found peace on the water. He enjoyed time spent casting reels and feeling the breeze in his hair. Always one to stay busy, John was a talented carpenter. His ability to tackle any issue was to be admired. John enjoyed time spent making memories with friends and family. Above all else, John loved his family with his whole heart- he will be deeply missed. Left to cherish John's memory are his two brothers, Billy Hurston and wife, Jennifer, and Scott Hurston, all of Myrtle Beach; four nephews, Ryan Todd, Blake Hurston, Brooks Hurston & Jackson Hurston; niece, Loryn Hurston; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors. A Celebration of John's life will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2025 at 4PM at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
